Product Description
RF-100 Fast Cure 6H is a two-component 100% solids epoxy coating system with a fast-curing hardener. It exhibits excellent chemical and physical properties, is resistant to cold and crystallization, and can be used on concrete floors, countertops, and other decorative surfaces. When applied to concrete floors, it is recommended to be used over an MVB primer.
Surface Preparation:
The concrete surface must be mechanically and structurally sound, clean of debris, oils, fats, waxes, sealers, curing agents, and other contaminants. New concrete must cure for at least 28 days before application. The compressive strength of concrete should be at least 3,500 psi (24 MPa) at 28 days, with a tensile strength of at least 215 psi (1.5 MPa). Moisture, chloride, and pH levels should be tested before application. Mechanically prepare the surface by shot blasting or diamond grinding with 30-grit or coarser diamonds to achieve a dust-free CSP-3 profile. The substrate and material temperature should be between 59°F - 86°F, with a maximum relative humidity of 85%. Applying outside these limits may lead to air entrapment, bubbles, blushing, hazing, curing, or adhesion issues. Cracks and imperfections should be repaired with ResinForce® EasyMend® before coating.
Mixing:
Ensure all materials are at least 59°F before use. Pre-mix Part A and Part B separately with a slow-speed mixer or shake containers for 1-2 minutes before combining. When using a 3-gallon kit, Part A can serve as the mixing container. Pour the entire contents of Part B into Part A, maintaining a 2A:1B mix ratio by volume. Mix for 3 minutes using a helix or jiffy mixer at 300-450 RPM, ensuring uniform distribution by scraping the sides and bottom of the container. Avoid air entrapment and do not mix more than what can be applied within the working time. For best results, transfer the mixed material into a clean container and mix again for 30 seconds. Immediately pour the mixture onto the surface and spread. Discard any remaining material promptly.
Application:
Apply when material and substrate temperatures are between 55°F - 85°F and relative humidity is below 85%. Pour the mixed material onto the surface and spread using a 1/8” notch flexible squeegee, then back roll with an 18” lint-free shedless 3/8” nap roller. Use a small roller or brush for corners and hard-to-reach areas. If the material thickens and sticks to application tools, stop immediately and discard the mixed material, as it has exceeded its usable pot life. Additional coats can be applied when the surface is tack-free, but do not exceed the recommended re-coat window without sanding. Clean tools with Xylene.
Advantages:
- Dense surface, resistant to bacteria and moisture, easy to clean
- Can be applied in multiple layers with excellent adhesion
- Solvent-free with a very low VOC content (88 g/L), making it safe for indoor applications
- Strong adhesion to various substrates
